Hive Mind

Inspired by the first page of E.M. Forster's 'The Machine Stops' - thought I'd have a quick go at the task before I asked the students to do it.

Hive Mind
Matrix filled with larvae:
Cacooned mushroom nodes.
The unnatural churn,
The synthetic buzz,
The hybrid hum of the hive mind
Dictates to the digitally delighted drones.
Together but alone in the wax vertices of their cells
Collecting infohoney for the
Mother, master, machine, queen.
Thrumming network of bugs:
Datadancing devices.
Every twitch of anntanae,
Every scrap of thorax,
Every click of mandibles,
Sings the song of sons, sisters, slaves, sacrifice to the
Mother, master, machine, queen.
